As Centre Operations Manager of St.Enoch Centre in Glasgow, Shirley Aitken ensures the smooth running of St.Enoch Centre for staff and shoppers alike, supporting the centre’s reputation as a leading destination for families.
Shirley has been in the retail industry for 35 years in various positions, 29 years of which were at a management level.
Working across food, fashion, homeware and luxury retail, Shirley has been involved with new store openings within four different retail companies.
Before joining St.Enoch Centre in 2012, Shirley formerly held the position of Operations Manager at Harvey Nichols, working in Manchester, Bristol and Istanbul – a career highlight, where she had to learn the language as she worked, with support of store staff and tutors.
Last year, St.Enoch Centre welcomed 19 million visitors across over 90 stores, overseen by Shirley. Recent accolades include receiving the Destination Leadership Skills course certificate, following studies with Napier University, in conjunction with Scottish Enterprise.
Shirley is currently heavily involved with the redevelopment of St.Enoch Centre, with new food and leisure offerings set to open in 2020.
