Dr Ruth McLaughlin is Innovation Manager for the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences. She is also Director of Workforce for the Lighthouse Lab in Glasgow, led from Glasgow and including University of Dundee and BioClavis.
Since joining the University of Glasgow, Dr McLaughlin has shaped, promoted and delivered the College’s vision for engagement with industry including the development of the award-winning Clinical Innovation Zone through identification and attraction of partner companies and delivery of a number of multi-stakeholder initiatives aimed at developing infrastructure to support translation/application of new ideas, discoveries and inventions arising from research undertaken in MVLS and enabling engagement with industry.
Dr McLaughlin was a key member in the development of the UKRI Strength in Places funding bid team to create the Living Laboratory programme that will deliver economic and social benefits to Glasgow and make Scotland the global leader in precision medicine and a core part of the University, UK and Scottish Government partnership to establish the Lighthouse Laboratory, one of the largest covid-19 testing facilities in the UK.
